Marine Grade Fiberglass Reinforced Structural Repair Putty

This marine filler is also excellent for bonding dissimilar materials like composite, fiberglass, wood, and metal parts. The Polyester Structural Repair Putty is waterproof and can be used above or below the waterline to fill cracks, holes, chips, and dents in fiberglass and gelcoat. It is designed for structural bonding, not cosmetic fairing, so for a smooth, easy-to-sand finish, users should apply TotalBoat Polyester Fairing Compound over the putty. After the fairing compound cures, the surface can be sanded smooth and prepared for gelcoat or paint.

If the putty is not being overcoated with fairing compound, users should add an air-dry agent such as paraffin wax (4 oz. of wax per gallon of putty) or apply PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) over it. The putty comes with MEKP catalyst, which should be used at a rate of 1-2% to achieve a working time of 15-20 minutes at 70°F (14 drops of MEKP per ounce of putty).

This versatile bonding compound can be used in a wide range of applications beyond just boat repair, including in automotive, RV, and home repair projects. It can be used to fill joints in sheet metal, as well as cracks and voids in wood, masonry, and concrete, with no shrinking or cracking, even in bulk fillings.
