Category: bondo fiberglass resin

When building or repairing with layers of fiberglass and resin, surface tackiness is crucial to ensure the layers do not cure prematurely. TotalBoat Polyester Laminating Resin is designed to remain tacky, allowing the layers to form strong bonds without hardening mid-project. This economical, marine-grade fiberglass resin does not contain wax, preventing it from curing in direct contact with air. It can be applied to prepared fiberglass, wood, and metal, making it suitable for various projects, such as spray-ups in a mold, hand layups on a boat, or DIY fiberglass repairs on boat hulls, surfboards, car bodies, motorcycles, RVs, or bathtubs.

The DIY fiberglass laminating resin has a viscosity that is ideal for wetting out fiberglass mat, fiberglass cloth, and carbon fiber, without sagging, even on vertical surfaces. It also minimizes pattern print-through on gelcoat finishes, making it an excellent choice for your fiberglass or gelcoat repair kit. TotalBoat Laminating Resin is easy to use but requires the addition of MEKP catalyst (included) to work properly. By adjusting the amount of MEKP hardener, you can control the working time, with options for a working time of 20 minutes or more, 15-20 minutes, or 10 minutes.

Once the project is complete, you can apply a final coat of TotalBoat Polyester Finishing Resin for a hard, tack-free finish that is ready to sand, paint, or gelcoat. TotalBoat Polyester Laminating Resin is available in Quart and Gallon sizes, and includes the necessary MEKP catalyst. It can be compared to products from 3M, Bondo Fiberglass Resin, FSD Fiberglass Supply Depot Polyester Resin, and Polymer Planet Polyester Fiberglass Resin, with the added benefit of being 100% made in the USA.

In summary, TotalBoat Polyester Laminating Resin is a versatile and easy-to-use polyester resin that stays tacky to hold fiberglass cloth and composite fabrics in place during boat building and layups. It is ideal for hull and surfboard repair, as well as bathtub and automotive fiberglass repairs. The resin wets out fiberglass and other reinforcement fabrics quickly, making it suitable for spray-ups and hand layups on fiberglass, wood, and metal. With the included MEKP catalyst, you can adjust the gel time to fit your needs, and the final layer can be topped with TotalBoat Polyester Finishing Resin for a smooth, tack-free finish.
